Great attendance this last week with 97.2% across the school. Overall this term it is at 96% and just above the total for this time last year. Attendance for last year was 95.6% for the whole school. Reading Week - Poetry 


On the first day we read and commented on a range of different poems.


We were also visited by a poet in the afternoon. 

Victorians topic homework 


We have seen some great homework projects for our Victorian topic this week!


We evaluated each other's project as well as our own projects!

William Morris Wallpaper Design


We have been learning all about Victorian artists and designers. 


We researched different artists and designers from the Victorian Period. 


We then hen focused on the designer William Morris. 


We then designed our own William Morris wallpaper. 

Ava Lovelace Day 2018!


Women in STEM!


On 9th October we celebrated women and girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). 


We we learned about historic women in STEM and we focused on Ava Lovelace, who was a Mathmatician and writer. She wrote the first algorithm for a program.

Today in Maths we had to solve challenging problems to support our understanding of place value.
We were given clues and we had to work out where each digit belonged in the number.

We started our new school year learning all about our brains and how we learn. 


It it is important that we understand how our brains learn so we can learn as much as we can in Year 5!
