REACH FOR THE STARS! Thanks for all the support with our Christmas Fayre - we raise nealy £2000. All the funds raised will be utilised to support learning activities for the children in the future - this will include trips, residentials, visitors and super learning experiences.. Our new attendance initiative begins this week - remember you have to be in it to win it! Last week class 13 achieved the class prize with 99.1% and 95.3% attendance across the school for the week - well done everyone. For autumn term overall attendance is at 96%.

The children have been very busy learning all about Peter Rabbit during Reading Week.  We have painted Peter Rabbit, made Peter Rabbit puppets and have created our own collage of Mr McGregor's allotment.  Thank you parents for the effort made with costumes on Monday and the Peter Rabbit books that were brought into school.

Wonderful colour mixing

The children used coloured water and pipettes to mixed primary colours - the results were brilliant.

Instructions

This week, Year 1 are starting a new English topic on 'Instructions'.  We will be learning all about listening to and following instructions and then we will write our own set.  We will be doing lots of fun activities that involve instructions.

 

 

The children took it in turns to create a race using some equipment.  They then gave clear instructions to their partner about how to complete the race.  They also played a shape game, giving instructions to make a picture using shapes.  Another job was to give instructions to sort toys into the correct place on some shelves.  We also enjoyed making jam and honey sandwiches - the children were great at listening to and following instructions, thinking about what the next step could be. Well done Year 1.
