Some pupils from year 4,5 and 6 have been participating in an after-school basketball club. Each pupil made great progress in terms of their dribbling, passing, attacking and defending abilities. I have been really impressed with the resilience, determination and positive attitude that they demonstrated throughout this half term.
Multi-Skills Competition (Key Stage One)
Year 1 and 2 performed brilliantly at the Multi-Skills competition which was held at Walbottle Secondary School. They participated in a range of activities that tested their co-ordination, balance and agility. Each member of the team showed an outstanding skill set and attitude towards each of their challenges.
Year 4, 5 and 6 have made progress to be really proud of in terms of their badminton skills! They have been playing games that involve using both a forehand and backhand shot.
All the children, who have been attending Rugby Club, have displayed a compelling enthusiasm towards the sport. They have all developed their knowledge and skills in relation to position, strategy, communication and ball control. Keep the impressive work rate up!
On Wednesday, some pupils from year 5/6 entered an inter-school athletics competition, which was held at Walker Sports Dome. The event started of with an encouraging and motivational speech from a recent Commonwealth Long Jumper and an Olympic Pole Vaulter.
Once the main events started, each child showed a focused, determined and respectful sporting attitude. Amazingly, the different teams won three out of four relays that they entered and there was also three children who won their individual races. It was a delight to witness such an outstanding performance!
The year 5/6 football team put in a superb performance in the Duffy League at Walbottle Campus. We won our two games, which keeps us in contention for coming top of the league. Keep up the good work!
We had a thrilling afternoon at the Outer West Dodgeball competition this week. The children’s throwing, catching, dodging and jumping skills were evident to see.
