Binary

We learned all about how Maths is used in Binary.

In mathematics and digital electronics, a binary number is a number expressed in the base-2 numeral system or binary numeral system, which uses only two symbols: typically 0 (zero) and 1 (one).

Mini Maths Career Fair

On Tuesday we got the chance to speak to different adults who work in a Maths related job.

We asked them questions to find out how they use Maths everyday.

Maths and Engineering

We had a visitor in school on Tuesday, Miss Beedle, who is an Engineer. She talked to us about what Engineering is and how she uses Maths in her job.

She then set us a challenge to build a bridge, which could hold the biggest weight. We used all of the engineering knowledge to help us.

World Down Syndrome Day 2018

Today we have been rocking with our odd socks for World Down Syndrome Day 2018.

We we have also been learning all about how important respect is.

The Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead

We really enjoyed our trip to the Discovery Museum.

Whilst at the Museum we took part in a workshop about 'The Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead'. We used information from the museum's archives to help us to piece together the events that happened in 1854.

We we are now going to use our new knowledge to teach Year 2 about the event as they have been learning about 'The Great Fire of London'.

We we also had time to visit the other parts of the Museum; Newcastle Story, Story of the Tyne and Scuence Maze.

Tricky Fractions

This half term we have been learning all about fractions in Maths.

We have been using concrete objects and pictures to help us to understand fractions.

Visit it our parent support page to find out more about how to add and subtract fractions.
