We love having visitors come into our classes. Today we were very lucky and had 2! Thank you for coming to share stories with us for reading week We LOVED it!
What a great start to reading week! We were greeted by Beatrix Potter herself today. She gave us a challenge which was to bring our stories to life!
She came to our classrooms and discussed our books- The tale of Jemima Puddleduck. We decided it would be nice to create our own nests for Jemima so that's what we created! The children all looked amazing
Today we looked VERY closely at materials. We used magnifying lenses to observe closely. We found that some materials were different and that it was to do with their properties.
We read our new traditional tale today - Mulan. We stopped at a certain point when Mulan was thinking about going to war. We discussed the benefits and drawbacks about her doing this. Then we used drama to express our opinions. Someone walked down the alley as Mulan and everyone had to shout their thoughts if she should join the army or not! We were very noisy... but a good noisy!
We have been looking at how to add tens. Today we looked at how to add 10s using a number line. First of all we learnt that a number line is just a number square cut up!
After that we had a go at doing some ourselves... ask them to show you at home!
We are enjoying our new unit in English- traditional tales! We have been reading lots of different stories and identifying the features..
Today Miss Holisz and I received a strange email from Tesco asking us for our help! Now, Tesco's has been terrorised by a different vegetable this time! We received a link to a video too.... you wont believe it!!!! We must write a wanted poster for this character asap!
We have been looking at different artists and comparing their style of pop art- Warhol and Lichtenstein. We started to create our own pop art...
The children have been using different models and images to help them learn to count in 3s. In year 2, the children need to know to count in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. Keep practising at home!
We have been practising logging on and off the computers. Today we worked on our keyboard skills. We played a game which helped us to ensure our fingers were placed correctly on the keyboard and we had to find all of the keys quickly.
Have a go at home!

We started our materials topic this week. We met a materials monster who LOVES everything about materials. We had to sort them according to their properties.
We have been focusing on our place value in maths. We have represented numbers using different models and images and compared lot of different numbers using the greater than and less than symbols.
Can you compare numbers at home with your children???
We had a few strange characters visit our class this morning! During our guided reading session the children had to come up with what questions and thoughts they had about it...
Can you guess what book we will be looking at?
Wow! What a fun Monday morning!! We had the opportunity to take part in Hoop Stars today. We practised how to hula hoop and then tried some skills such as jumping with the hoop... I was very impressed! The children were definitely much better than the adults...
We enjoyed our celebration assembly at the end of the day too.
The children all had a chance to be a school councillor. They told the classes why they would like to be one and then we all had a vote.
Year 2 have been practising their handwriting today. It is important children are forming their letters correctly because it will help them when we start joining up our writing.
After that we played some maths games to help us remember our number bonds to 10.. Keep practising at home with your children. You can make songs, dances, anything to help them remember!
Look at these amazing summer challenges! We asked the children to create their own superhero as it is our new topic. We are all SUPER excited to start our topic
We read a story about a land with no rules or laws and discussed what would happen in a land like this. We decided it is better to have rules so we made our own class rules. We had a group discussion about what rules are applicable to our classrooms.
We have enjoyed getting to meet all of the children today! They have loved their first day and have had lots of laughs already.
The children have got their new reading diaries and 2 new books. These will be sent home today for you to read with the children When the children have read both of the books, make sure you comment in their diaries so we know they are ready to be changed.
