Autumn 1

This week is DT week in school.

We are very excited because we are making...

PUPPETS!

Here are our finished puppets! We are so proud of them!

We joined the front and back of the puppets using glue, staples and safety pins.

Here we are decorating our puppets. We used wool, felt, buttons and sequins. It was very tricky cutting the felt but we persevered and Mrs Phillip and Mrs Hewitson were very proud of us!

Here are some of our puppet designs!

We hope you enjoy looking at our paintings!

As part of our work on 'The Little Blue Planet' we have been learning the names of the world's oceans and talking about why they are important. We loved painting pictures of oceans and the animals that live in them.

In our indoor PE sessions we have been working on gymnastics. We have been making different shapes with a space theme and linking them together to make a sequence.

We have been investigating practically the concepts of more and less. We have been learning to use different vocabulary such as fewer and greatest.

We drew pictures of space using pastels.

Here are some examples of our super writing which retells the beginning of the story.

Here are our lists of the things Baby Bear took to the moon.

Here are some of our speech bubbles!

This week we have listened to the story, 'Whatever Next!' by Jill Murphy. We will be writing speech bubbles and lists, making story maps and writing a recount.

We have been so pleased with how the children have settled into their new classes!

Well done Year 1!

Here are some of the fun activities we got up to in the first couple of weeks!
