Autumn 2

This half term we have a new class reader- the wonderful Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. We will be using this as a basis for our learning about key stories and information texts in English. In Maths we are focusing on multiplication and division. We can't wait to see who will reign supreme in our times table-athon! In Science, we will be finding out all about the animal kingdom and how they digest food. And in our topic work we will be finding out all about rivers. We can't wait to get started! 

Merry Christmas from all of Year 4! The children can't wait for our Christmas party before starting their holidays. See you all in 2018!

18.12.17 A very busy last week

We have a lot going on this week, here’s all the important information you need to know. 


Monday - We are watching the Cinderella Pantomine

Tuesday - is our final swimming session, please remember your swimming kits and it is the final day for swimming badge money 

Wednesday - our Christmas Carol concert. Please can the children bring in their Christmas jumpers and any antlers, Christmas hair bands etc they would like to wear. We hope lots of our parents can come and watch.  The doors open at 2:15. 

Friday - Toy day and our Christmas party.  Please can the children come in in their party clothes and bring a non expensive toy they would like to play with.


Once again, thank you for all your support!

Well done to our Maths stars who were first to complete one of our Cuisinaire rod challenges! Great teamwork!

11.12.17 Our Christmas Carol Concert

The children have been very busy practising for Carol concert. It is on Wednesday 20th December at 2:30. The doors will open at 2:15. We hope you can make it!

11.12.17 Information about homework

Just to let you know that there will be no more spellings to learn until after the Christmas holiday. There will be one more week of Mathletics and after that, don’t forget you can keep earning points by challenging other people. Remember to keep practising those times tables too! 8.12.17 - Thanks to everyone who brought in and presented their Rivers homework. You all showed excellent knowledge and told the class some fascinating facts about a range of different rivers around the world!

8.12.17 Our Times-table-Athon Well done to everyone who joined in with enthusiasm and increased accuracy as well as speed! A huge well done to our finalists and of course our overall winners!!

We loved working in teams to complete a rounding scavenger hunt in Class. Great team work.

4.12.17 Our times table-athon

1.12.17 we are set up and ready to welcome everyone to our enterprise stall in Class 10 - don't forget to come and visit us!

1.12.17 This learner has impressed us all with her persuasive letter all about the effects of Global Warming for animals living in the Arctic. Amazing work.

Year 4 can't wait to see how many of their enterprise products they sell today at the fair! All profit goes directly to Year 4 to spend on Maths resources.

Enterprise Week - we thoroughly enjoyed making our Christmas pudding themed crispies ready to sell at the fair! Yum Yum!

28.11.17 A few important messages....

Due to enterprise and the Christmas Fair, our spellings this week will be tested on Monday. We also have our x7 tables test then and our Rivers projects are due in by Monday too! Good luck everyone!!

23.11.17 We started to develop our Geographical knowledge today to find and locate rivers and mountain ranges on the UK maps. We can't wait to plan and present our own weather report. Watch this space...

13.11.17 Paul Mooney visits Year 4

Wow! As part of our river topic, we had a wonderful visit from Paul Mooney from Look North today. He told us all about how to become a weather man, why it is important to know about maps and compass directions and how he predicts the weather. The children asked thought provoking questions and learnt lots from his visit. Well done everyone!

13.11.17 Secret Buddies For Antibullying Week #bekind

Today, the children have found out who they are trying to be kind to. This could be anything from a compliment, to a smile, to playing together in the playground. We want our children to always make the kind choice. We are going to link this work to This Morning's 'Be Kind' pledge. Find out more by clicking on the link below. Remembrance Day

Jungle Book drama - we told our stories from our plans then hotseated Mowgli to make sure we are clear about this feelings and emotions ready to write our stories on Monday. We can't wait to read them...

10.11.17 Computing - We learnt all about algorithms and how they work by giving our partner a set of instructions to follow.

7.11.17 Our amazing writing

7.11.17 A busy two days! 

Ww have been very busy the last two days! We have been finding out about time phrases to help the flow of our writing, developing understanding of how place value can help us to multiply, finding out what different teeth do and using our French to describe monsters. What super learners! 

2.11.17 Year 4 have been stitching stars today and have completed their Stitch Head monsters. Amazing focus, concentration and perseverance all round, well done!

31.10.17 Perimeter

This week the children have been looking for efficient ways to measure perimeters. They loved this video, and asked for it to be added to the website! 

Introduction to Perimeter

You will learn about "Basics of Perimeter" in this video. Perimeter is the shortest distance around a shape, i.e. if we walk along the sides of a shape, then the total distance travelled is its perimeter.
