Remote Education

Remote Education at Westerhope Primary School

  • If in the event that a child or year group bubble need to self-isolate due to a COVID outbreak or in the circumstance of a local lock-down, Westerhope Primary School will offer immediate remote education.
  • The way in which we intend to do this would be via SeeSaw for Schools, which is a learning platform.
  • SeeSaw for Schools will enable teachers to:
    • Set learning activities daily for pupils to access in a range of different subjects.
    • Provide frequent and clear explanations of new content. This will include teachers uploading videos of themselves explaining a concept or clips where teachers could explain instructions verbally. This vital feature will enable pupils to see and hear their teachers daily.
    • Teachers will also be able to give individual feedback to work submitted, which will in turn give motivation to children and support with their ongoing progress.

Using Seesaw on Your Computer or Mobile Device

Seesaw works great on any computer or device.

If you have any trouble with the set up, please get in touch with school via the email address: homelearning@westerhope.newcastle.sch.uk

Access to Technology

Please get in touch with school if you do not have access to ICT and therefore can not access SeeSaw. If this is the case, school will organise for workbooks/ paper copies for those children who are self-isolating and do not have access to digital technology or alternative provision from 'The Department for Education' will be accessed for children and families that are eligible.

SeeSaw for Schools

  • SeeSaw for Schools can also be used within lessons so that children can create their own journal and record of learning over the year. Your child will be able to add the things we work on in school (including photos, videos, worksheets, drawings and voice recordings) to their Seesaw journal. As teachers become more confident with the app we will also be able to have the facility of sharing these journals privately with parents.
  • There are numerous exciting features that teachers will explore and use over this academic year.
