We have now come to the end of our Fire topic but what a fantastic week we have had to finish. Earlier in the week, in team, we made our own wooden houses ready for our 'Great Fire'. This afternoon we have had such a fantastic afternoon in the garden with Mr Brown learning all about fire safety and who can forget toasting our own marshmallows. The children came back in grinning from ear to ear not to mention their marshmallow covered faces too.

Look at our model house!
That's amazing!
It all started with one tiny spark.
Watch those houses burn.
Everything comes to an end...until next time!

3.2.17 - We have thoroughly enjoyed our week on money. We have been getting used to using the different coins. We have now learned that you can make different amounts in lots of different combinations. Some children were able to find 12 different ways to make 52p, isn't that amazing?

Look at our different balances using different parts of our bodies.

This week in English, we have been looking at lots of different fables. We also enjoyed acting out the Pelican and the Fish so that we could internalise the story. We will be writing our own fable next week so watch this space!

What a fantastic party we have had and all of the children looked fantastic! Thank you so much for all of the food that you sent in for the children today.

Wednesday 14th December

Dear parents / carers,

I was so proud of the children today in our Nativity.  They have worked so hard practising their different parts and they all took their different roles very seriously and their final performances were just fantastic.  However, none of this would have been possible without your help with the costumes so thank you so much.  We are very much looking forward to our Christmas activities over the next week but we will keep them secret for now.

Thanks,

Miss Holisz

Christmas Maths problem

We read the Christmas story and then sequenced the events.

Finding fractions using the bar method

Wednesday 9th November

We starting chatting about our new topic which is FIRE! We had a conversation about bonfire night and some things the children observed on this night. They then had to work in groups of 3 to design their own firework display picture. We used contrasting colours to make sure our colours stood out! I was really impressed with the beautiful pictures they created...

17/10/16 What a fantastic day we have had! We spent the morning following written instructions to make hedgehog homes. Everyone had so much fun. Let's hope the hedgehogs find a safe place to hibernate!

In English, we are learning all about traditional tales. So far, we have enjoyed reading different traditional tales whilst exploring the characters and setting. To improve our writing we have been investigating adjectives, and we have been challenged to include expanded noun phrases into our writing. By the end of our learning journey we will have written our own version of Mulan.

During our Superhero topic, we enjoyed exploring different Pop Art and making our own.

In Computing, we created a setting for our own superhero story. We used the 2 Simple paint application to do so. Ask us about the skills we learned.
