A Message from our Chair of Governors

To the Westerhope Primary School Family

These are difficult and frightening times. Since the Government announced that all schools were to close, Mr Outterside has been working almost around the clock, with the Staff, Governors, and with the Headteachers and Staff of the other OWL Trust schools in our area to find the most appropriate solution for the situation we find ourselves in. By the time you read this, you will already know the arrangements which have been made for our children who need to continue to attend school, and those who will be staying at home. I hope you will join me in giving heartfelt thanks to the Staff, who are demonstrating unbelievable dedication and flexibility to keep places open to these children while, in many cases, needing to balance this with disruption to their own lives.

I would like to thank those key workers who will continue to do their jobs, under increasing pressure, to keep the rest of us safe, and fed, and able to function at as normal level as possible. I can assure you that Westerhope Primary, and all of the other schools, will care for your children, and take every practical measure to keep them happy, healthy, and safe.

To those of you whose children will not be going to school, I offer my most sincere thanks. I understand this creates great difficulties for many of you, with drastic changes to your lives, probably unwelcome, at such short notice. I, myself, am having to adjust from after-school, to full-time care for my four year-old granddaughter. At least I only have one to deal with!

It is at times like this that I am so proud to be Chair of Governors, and, again, thank the whole school family, including our parents, carers, and their families, for their dedication, flexibility, patience, and understanding.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back when the time is right. In the meantime, make sure that you follow all of the advice to keep yourselves, and those around you, healthy and safe.

Once again; thank you!
