Day 2 Lindisfarne and St. Abbs
Today our group had a fabulous time with first of all a hearty YHA breakfast then a trip across the causeway to Holy Island. We learned about the famous tides that often maroon motorists as well as the importance of tourism for islanders. We were given a talk by an archaeologist who was conducting a dig near the site of the priory. They told us all about how they were looking for the remains of early Christians who were buried around the 8th century. We then ventured up the coast and dropped down to the tiny harbour at St. Abbs then walked along the cliff path to Coldingham Bay. We were given a talk on beach safety by a lifeguard and then had fun paddling, playing football and burying each other in the sands. We were complemented many times on our good behaviour and our school staff think we are the best companions to have on trip. A great day! Now an Italian super before a game of footy; a play in the park and walk around the walls. Pictures to follow.
