Dr Rinke Vinkenoog is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Sciences at Northumbria University. He has been working again with Mr Bell and our Year 6 pupils. He is a real life bee expert and we are hoping his team can inspire our pupils to become scientists when they leave school. Dr Rinke was born and raised in Amsterdam, where he developed his love for the natural world. He knows a great deal about bees after studying Biology at the University of Amsterdam, Rinke did his PhD at the Rijksuniversiteit Leiden in the Netherlands on the genetic regulation of the cell cycle in malaria parasites. In January 2004 Rinke started as a lecturer at Northumbria University. He is now a programme leader for MSc Biotechnology. We are so lucky to be working with him in school.
