Thanks to all those who filled in our survey before half term. It is great to see that we had 154 responses to our questions about parent and carer consultation events. We realise this year has been very different in terms of engaging with families and how we highlight achievement. Despite this we are keen to learn from how we have had to adapt because of COVID.
The survey indicated that parents and carers found booking easy (99%) and relatively easy to find a convenient slot (98%) but with probably more time needed for more lengthy discussions for some parents and carers.
Parents and carers also found that the meeting helped them understand how their child had approached learning in school (96%). Most parents and carers also felt able to ask questions and we are particularly pleased that most think their child is making progress - despite COVID (96%). The vast majority also felt that they understood how they could help at home (97%).
However, it is most apparent that our families do enjoy the face to face experience of talking to a teacher and reflected in 52% of our responses indicating they prefer this option.
We will be reflecting upon these outcomes and consider them for future arrangements. Suffice to say, we know that for some families a telephone call may be an option whilst for others there is nothing better than sitting down to talk in person.
Thanks again for the support in adapting to these methods and helping us to improve for the future.
