A wonderful atmosphere was evident around school for World Kindness Day this Friday on 13th Nov. Thanks to our friends from ‘52 Lives’ for their input and we look forward to ‘Secret Buddy Week’ to support the national anti-bullying campaign. Good attendance since our whole school return. 96.1% across the whole school. Thanks for your great efforts. Our COVID-19 page is available on the ‘Parent' tab. This includes the measures that will be in place to ensure the safety of those on our school site. Please view these measures and follow the guidance outlined. REACH FOR THE STARS... Outdoor Learning Program

At Westerhope Primary we understand that sometimes, all you need is a little bit of fresh air! Our Year 1 cohort are loving our new areas to explore right outside their classroom.

Our gardeners have been very busy this half term getting our garden area ready for some super exciting outdoor learning. More areas are being freshened up every week so watch this space!

We plan outdoor visits to key locations as part of our curriculum offer. Gibside was visited recently to study aspects of our ‘Rivers’ area of study.

Every week the Hextol Gardeners come in to work with groups of pupils in order to look after our Forest School area. Our first job this term has been to clear out the planters around school and harvest the fruit.

At Westerhope we love getting outside to undertake learning activities and experience life outside the classroom.
Mr Brown has a timetable to work with every class in the school on outdoor adventure activities. One of the first skills is to learn the 'respect position' when lighting a fire.
We sometimes like to go outside just to share a story. Mr Brown sets up the tents so that we can have some extreme reading!
Mr Brown will be keeping us updated about the work going on outdoors. This year all of our classes will be participating in Forest School activities. We are also developing the outdoor area and our experiences outside the classroom. Watch this space for more information in the coming days.
