We had 10p to spend on icing and decorations at the biscuit shop. Here are some of our finished biscuits. We think they look delicious!

We played a dice game with 1p and 2p coins.

A big thank you to all the parents who came to play board games with us this afternoon. We used lots of numbers in our counting and it was great fun!

We made Easter egg shaped biscuits, weighing the ingredients carefully on the scales. We are really looking forward to visiting the biscuit decorating shop tomorrow!

We measured some large items in our classroom using tape measures.

We played an Easter addition game using dice.

Sports Relief fun!

We started the day with an assembly to find out why Sports Relief is so important.

We had great fun taking part in the Westerhope Dance-athon!

We took part in The Golden Mile challenge for the first time today running around the playground as many times as we could in 20 minutes.

Volume and Capacity

We have been investigating the volume of a variety of containers using water and uncooked rice. We used the words full, empty, half full, half empty, nearly full and nearly empty.

We ordered containers by how much liquid they could hold fom least to most.

Wonderful Weight!

We have been learning about weight and mass this week. We compared the weight of objects using the words heavier, lighter and the same. Next we weighed a variety of objects with cubes and used the word balance. Then we ordered objects by weight from heaviest to lightest. Mrs Phillip and Mrs Trowell were so impressed with how well we worked with our friends!

Bling Your Bike For Easter!

Thank you to all the parents who helped the children decorate their bikes and scooters for Easter, they looked amazing and the children were so excited to walk them around the hall and show their friends.

This week in maths we have been learning about comparing and measuring length and height.

Thank you to all the parents who helped their child complete their measuring homework.

We compared objects to see which was taller and which was shorter.

We ordered some of our friends by height.

We measured pictures and then objects with cubes and then investigated how many more cubes taller one object was compared to another.

We measured length and height in centimetres using a ruler.

Where in the world?

We have been looking at maps of the world and finding out the names of the 7 continents. Ask us if we can remember some of them.

Class 4 have been to the Win Its shop!

Remember you have to be in school on time every day for a week to earn 5 Win Its. You have to be in it to win it! Prizes start at 20 Win Its.

These children decided to save their Win Its so they can buy a bigger prize next time the Win It shop is open.

These children decided to spend their Win Its. Look at their super prizes!

World Book Day fun!

Thank you to all the parents who came into school to read stories to us.

Mr Outterside came to tell us the story of Greyfriars Bobby. See if we can tell you the story of Jock and his dog Bobby.

We were very lucky as the Year 5 children came and read stories to us.

We enjoyed reading our favourite books and sharing them with our friends.

Year 1 looked amazing in their World Book Day costumes!

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to our Grace Darling open afternoon. The children really enjoyed showing you their work!

Magical Maths!

We have been learning about place value in Maths. We have been counting and making numbers with tens and ones. Watch the videos and we will explain.

At home practise counting in tens, see if your child can tell you how many tens and ones are in a number, use food or toys to set out numbers in tens and ones. Watch video 3 below and pretend there are 10 biscuits in each packet and add on the extra biscuits as ones, then you can eat some of the biscuits and even count how many are left!

We are going to be looking at the points on a compass and giving directions to a friend this week. If you have a compass app on your phone please let your child have a look. Perhaps you could try walking in different directions following the compass!
