Spring 2

What an incredible Maths week we have had in Reception this week! The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about maths in the real world with an Easter theme. The children have been measuring out ingredients in their Easter biscuits cookery class, halving portions of popcorn for friends ready for the popcorn shop (and a treat for our treasure challenge cinema reward!), explored and created egg patterns and lots more! Wow! What a wonderfully busy Maths Easter week it's been!

What a fun #LotsOfSocks day we had in support of WDSD on the 21st March, 2018. We really did rock our socks in Reception by wearing spotty socks, long socks, brightly coloured socks and odd socks! We truly celebrate and welcome individuality, uniqueness, and all of the wonderfully different qualities each and every friend brings to our class. Thank you for being you.

What an amazing (and energetic!) dance-athon the Reception children enjoyed! Well done! Fantastic team effort for Sports Relief!

21.3.18 It was so great seeing so many Reception parents at our Maths Inspire Workshop today.

"I want to be a fairy when the fairy flies to my house. When she turns me small, I'll grow wings and fly too."

The wonderful places we find to write a kind message...

Our outdoor learning space is coming along so nicely. The children are really enjoying being a part of creating their garden. We are all so excited!

Reception class have had a wonderful World Book Day today celebrating the joy and wonder of books!

Thank you to all of our lovely grown ups who came in to share a story today! It was such a lovely atmosphere in Reception and the children were so happy!

We went on a storyteller hunt in school and look who we stumbled across...

Our whole school story telling experience was full of mystery! We had such a fun time listening!

Look at our wonderful book characters today in Class 1...

Thank you for sharing a story with us our lovely Year 4 friends!

Welcome to our new topic entitled:

Around The World!

The children are having so much fun exploring our wonderful African feel around the classroom! From retelling our class story of Handa’s Surprise, building a fantastic mud hut, tasting delicious tropical fruits, making African inspired necklaces using a delight of colours and textures, using our maths learning to buy delicious fruits from Handa’s fruit shop to exploring music from around the world using a variety of musical instruments inspired by African music ... and would you believe this is only our second full week of our new topic?

Where it all started!
Our own Handa carrying her basket of fruit.
Our story tellers exploring the story props!
Food tasting time with Miss Oxley.
Funky Finger time feeding the monkeys!
Moulding and carving the 'fruit' playdough
Observational drawings before tasting time!

Where in the world...

To celebrate Mental Health Week, Reception children learned about being special and unique.

Each and every day we always say how lucky we are to have such fabulous, wonderfully kind, caring, well mannered children in our classes, who love learning and being special friends.

To all of our learners - thank you for being you. It's been a fantastic week together.

Goodbye to our lovely little learner. You will be missed (enjoy the sunshine!)
