Staying Safe

At Westerhope we aim to give pupils the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe in the world today. Our PHSCE work has great deal of emphasis on the 'life skills' we need to keep safe - this includes aspects such as e-safety, personal hygiene, fire safety, mental health and many others. Find out how you can support your child using the information below.

Road Safety

Here are links to support you with teaching your child road safety.

Fire Safety

As we approach bonfire night, we always teach the children the importance of fire safety. For information about staying safe and authorised bonfire displays, please click the link below. Remember to stay safe!

Bike Safety

Within school we participate in Bikeabilty and Smart Scoot training. We want our children to actively travel to school but we want to make sure it is the safest way possible. Here's some advice on how to keeep your child safe on the road.

NSPCC - advice to keep all children safe

Within school, our School Nurse comes in to talk to the children about the PANTS rule. Here the resources and parent information for you to talk to your child about this too.

Talk PANTS with Pantosaurus and his PANTS song #TalkPANTS

Meet Pantosaurus - our pant-wearing Dino! He wants every child to stay safe and strong, just like him, and he's on a mission to share an important message.

One of our biggest challenges is helping our children stay safe in a digital world. All the children are taught about eSafety in their Computing sessions. Here are some helpful resources to support you at home.

Hygiene and Food Safety

Whenever the children are cooking they are taught the importance of hygiene and food safety. You may find some of the resources helpful at home too.
