Summer 1

The Impressionists!

It's time for our next amazing topic!  This half term we are going to be finding out about the world of Impressionist Art. We will be using the Anholt's Artist collection of books to find out more about these creative masters.  You can find out more about these texts by clicking on the link below...

we will develop our knowledge of art and artists as well as developing our own skills and flair.

It's going to be a very exciting term!!

22.5.19 In our Maths lesson today, we investigated time. We found out how many star jumps and hops we could do in 1 minute and how far we could run in 10 seconds!

Harnessing the wind

We found out all about William Kamkwamba who is a young school boy who built a windmill to power an electric water pump which helped his villiage grow crops.  We were inspired by his story and created our own prototype wind turbines to discover how we can harness the power of the wind. We have loved discovering all about how to help the environment by using renewable energy.

20.5.19 ELECTRICITY We had a brilliant time creating our own switches and discovering how they work! Fantastic work everyone!

16.5.19 we made the most of the sunshine this afternoon and practiced our observational drawing skills before developing our use of shading and blending with water colours - well done!

15.3.19 We had a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine playing kick rounders for our PE session. Well done everyone!

13.5.19 SCIENCE We had a great morning discovering all about electricity. We know about mains and battery powered appliances, how to stay safe with electricity and that you need a complete circuit to make a bulb light up. Well done everyone!

8.5.19 This lunchtime, during wet play, the children managed to make this 27m paper chain! They challenged themselves and worked together! Well done everyone!

We enjoyed using the skills we developed last week to paint our own version of Monet’s Waterlily pond. Very creative work Year 4!

Our new class reader is an exciting read and will be great to support our work on playscripts and realistic fiction. It is a fabulous book which allows us to think carefully about ourselves and how friendships can grow and change so lots of PSHCE links too...

29.4.19 INTU BUG HUNT We had a great morning with Claire from Eldon Square. She told us about the Big bug Hunt, donated two bug hotels to school and helped us enter a competition.
