Summer 2

What an amazing week we have had! Music, Art, Drama and Dancing and lots of fun! The hi-light would have to be the wonderful MADD parade. We were incredibly proud of all the children during our dance. Huge thanks to Megan for keeping Mrs Dalkin and Mr McDonald right with our performance.
Thank you for the amazing chocolate projects! I obviously tried everything and can guarantee everything was delicious! Well done Year 3.
We were so lucky today as John Grundy came into year 3 to talk to us about Our Great North. We focussed on the mining. John knew so many facts to share with us! Thank you John!
What a brilliant day we had yesterday! It was so much fun. The children loved the obstacle course, the zip wire and the Slip and slide. Their behaviour was superb too. There are so many photographs to choose from... here are a few and the rest are on the slideshow.

Spellings for this week are:

The children will be tested on Friday 6th July.

We are really looking forward to seeing some of the children’s chocolate homework projects!

Today we had a special visitor to teach us all about keeping safe online. Mr Cochrane explained how we could keep when using phones, tablets, computers and game consoles.

Orienteering fun with Year 5!

Year five used their computing skills to set up an orienteering course for year 3. It was brilliant, we had to scan QR codes and then answer questions before we could move on. Thank you Year 5. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous day yesterday visiting the Great North exhibition. We went to the Great North Museum, The Laing Art Gallery, The City library, Northern stage to name a few! A packed busy day. The children were impeccably behaved, we were very proud of them, especially when members of the public commented too!smiley

The spellings for this week are linked to our Science topic about plants. They  are quite tricky so look carefully at them all. We will also give you some time in class to learn them too. You will be tested on Friday 29th June.

We are delighted to say we have arranged for our second visit to Broomley Grange on Wednesday 4th July. All the information has been sent in a letter via email so please check. The children will need to bring a packed lunch and snacks (as we are not leaving the venue until 5:00pm - they might be a bit peckish!) and a towel and change of clothes. Our plan is to have a fun filled day using the slip and slide, as well as other outdoor and adventurous activities. We are really looking forward to it!

What a shame our Camp out didn't quite turn out as planned. The children still had a super day and the photographs can all be seen as a slideshow under the 'Latest news' section. We are busy trying to organise another day out for the children back at Broomley Grange before the end of the Summer term. We will let you know any details as soon as everything is finalised.

We also had a super day in school today playing kicky rounders and having a treat this afternoon, well, we couldn't let all those hot dogs and buns go to waste could we? smiley

Have a great weekend everyone. See you all on Monday.

Year3 camp out tomorrow! Yippee! We are beyond excited. Please can everyone keep their fingers crossed for good weather? See you all in the morning as usual, we are hoping to leave promptly.
Year 3 are busy planning our own adventure stories. We have been reading ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Browne for some inspiration. We couldn’t believe how amazing and detailed the illustrations were.
In maths we have started work on direction. We are learning to use vocabulary such as clockwise, anti clockwise, full turn, quarter turn etc.
Don't forget our Camp Out at Broomley Grange is next week (Thursday 14th June and Friday 15th June). All of the letters and information have been sent via parentpay. Please make sure the medical form is sent back to school as soon as possible and keep your fingers crossed for sunshine! β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈπŸŒžπŸ€žπŸ€ž

8.6.18 Sports Day! Thank you so much for joining us for our Sports Day! Well done to everyone for fantastic sportsmanship!

What a super sporty day! We had a team GB triple long jump silver medalist in today to put us through our paces! Wow! Year 3 were exhausted! πŸ₯‡πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸƒπŸΌ
Today we had a Taekwondo expert in school to show Year 3 how much fun the sport can be. We had a great time and the children have all got a leaflet to take home with details about clubs they can join.

What a super start to a new half term! This week is 'Sports week' at Westerhope. Class 7 and 8 had a fantastic morning. We spent time out on the field learning how to play rugby and football, we also learnt how to throw the javelins and run hurdles!

Our reading and maths lessons were also linked to sports. In reading we were finding out which sporting events are happening this year, and in maths we focussing on time. Well done Year 3! A fun filled active day!

Here are our spellings for this week. Look carefully as these words are homophones. The children will be tested on Friday 8th June, they will be given a sentence and have to decide which is the correct word. 😳
