Year 3

Mental Health Week

Hi everyone! This week is Mental Health Week and the theme is kindness! This is something we try to promote in our school everyday.
We had our Good to Be Me day this year and we all learnt how to look after our mental health! Maybe you can do some yoga or mindful colouring? Kindness is defined by doing something towards yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference. Kindness and mental health are deeply connected heart

Throughout these strange times, we have seen lots of kindness on the news. You might have heard of 100 year old Colonel Tom Moore. He has raised over 30 million pounds for the NHS.. How amazing!

We are setting you a kindness challenge! Can you complete an act of kindness everyday? This could be things like:

  • Getting a drink for someone in your family
  • Sending someone a letter or a card who you miss
  • Donating food or clothes to people in need
  • Baking a cake or biscuits to cheer someone up
  • Helping your parents complete a chore
  • Video call someone who may feel lonely

These are only ideas.. we know how kind and creative you can be.

We would love to hear how you are looking after your mental health or how you are being kind to others.

Hello Year 3!

We hope you are looking after yourselves and everyone at home. We are missing you lots and can't wait to see you all again.

Don't forget there are lots of online games and lessons you can take part in. The maths lessons below are very good. We are hoping you all have lots and lots of points on times table rockstars.  Have you been reading? You can read anything at all, school books, home books, online resources...you choose!

Here is a special treat for those children in Year 3 who love this nonsense poem. We've left the last line out as we are sure you can remember it!

Ladles and Jellyspoons

Ladles and Jellyspoons

I come before you

to stand behind you

and tell you something

I know nothing about.

Next Friday,

the day after Thursday,

there will be a ladies' meeting

for men only.

Wear your best clothes

if you haven't any,

and if you can come,

PLEASE STAY HOME.

Admission is free,

you can pay at the door.

We'll give you a seat,

so you can sit on the floor.

It doesn't matter

where you sit,

the kid in the gallery...

Look after everyone and we'll see you soon.

Why not try a daily maths lesson online? The White Rose Maths Team has prepared a series of five brand new maths lessons each week for each year group from Years 1-8. Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully. The objectives covered would be the ones we would cover if school was open so it is a great way to keep up to date with your maths learning.

Head to the Times Table Rockstar website to take part in weekly battles!

Well done class 7 for winning the battle last week! It was pretty close! Who will win this week?

Welcome to Year 3!
