  • Celebration 26th April 2024
Every Friday, the children are encouraged to share their hobbies and achievements with the school during celebration assembly.    This week, two girls shared their incredible blankets which they made at home from scratch. Surely they have a future business in mind! They are both incredibly talented.    We also have a future engineer who shared just one of his many creations and this time it was almost like a bow and arrow that could shoot elastic bands at least 4m. Amazing!   Then as if Westerhope are not talented enough, we had a gymnast, a dancer, a swimmer and even someone who walked all of Hadrian’s Wall - 84miles!   We are so proud of our talented children! Keep sharing everyone!

  • Year 3 Newcastle City Centre Geography & RE Trip 22nd April 2024
Year 3 had a very memorable day on our Newcastle City Centre Trip. It was action packed from the outset, all cramming onto the 63 bus, and undertaking our 'can you find?' bus tasks.   Our first landmark was St James' Park, which delighted everyone, before moving at a rate of knots through the City Centre.   The children were absolutely brilliant at sticking together in our large group. We made lots of pitstops along the way to look at the many historic and iconic landmarks and places of significance in our city.   We went inside Newcastle's Cathedral, where the children were invited to touch the water in the font and explore the beautiful surroundings. The children were amazed to hear the organ rehearsals going on, and we got to view a schools' exhibition of artwork inspired by the stained glass windows in the Cathedral. This has also inspired us to create some artwork. Watch this space!   Everyone was in awe of the Castle's Black Gate, especially the grim oubliette (a gaol with no means of escape), and enjoyed their journey along the Quayside and over the Millennium Bridge.   Thank you to Newcastle City Library who welcomed us to enjoy our packed lunches in a very lovely room there.
