  • Year 6 Baltic Open Submission - 'Marras' 24th November 2023
Year 6 have produced some amazing artwork with the theme, 'flat, yet sculptural.' The artwork in Fenwick's window this year is created using a 'flat, yet sculptural' theme too. We like to think Fenwick's graphic designers have been inspired by the works of our wonderful Year 6 artists!   The children used the challenging techniques of 'grid method' and 'scaling up' to create an exhibition of canine friends inspired by artist Lubaina Himid's 'flat, yet sculptural' works.   Our exceptional school cleaners and dog enthusiasts picked a selection of their favourites for inclusion in the Year 6 entry to the Baltic Open Submission 2024. If selected, the piece would be on display as part of an exhibition by local artists at the Baltic. We have been very excited about this submission.   The artwork is titled 'Marras' in a nod to the fact the dogs look as though they are pals, and the Geordie term for 'mates'. Let's keep our fingers crossed for further good news about our entry in Spring!
