What is our outdoor area like?

At Westerhope Primary School we are lucky to have a large outdoor space consisting of our outdoor learning area, secret garden and climbing frame.

We think of this space as our outdoor classroom and it is used almost all day, everyday come rain or shine!

Resources outdoors are stored in our sheds providing children with access to all of the resources they need to enhance their play situations.  The outdoor space is organised into different well-organised areas so that children know where to find the things they need and where to tidy them away.

Some of our resources are;

• a building shed,
• den building frame and storage,
• a writing and number shed,
• a reading nook,
• access to an outdoor tap for water play,
• a mud kitchen,
• a large sand pit,
• a physical equipment shed,
• a range of bikes and scooters,
• a garden area,
• a tool shed.

Children also access our climbing frame area at various times across the week.
