Extra Curricular Clubs
At Westerhope, our aim is provide a range of extra-curricular activities across the year for a range of different year groups. This programme of activities is something we hope to develop. The Dazzling Descants
Years 4 and 5
Mrs Thompson
A fun introduction to playing the descant recorder, learning how to read and interpret musical notation, and enjoying performing as a group. It is lovely to have some children returning from last year and some new faces joining too. Look out for future performances!
Gaming Club
Year 6
Mr Bosworth
Gaming Club is a space for both experienced gamers and those looking to try something new. In the club, children will have the opportunity to chat about their favourite games, work collaboratively, learn about gaming etiquette and online safety whilst experiencing a range of age-appropriate video games in a secure environment (online gaming will not be an element of the club).
Football Club
Years 5 & 6
Newcastle United Foundation
The children will have the opportunity to practise their football skills with our coach from Elite Sports.
Yoga
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6
Claire Straughn (Soothing massage and Children's yoga)
During the session the children will develop strength, coordination, flexibility and balance as well as body awareness, better focus, concentration and self-confidence. They will also learn the importance of relaxation.
Pupil Committee
Years 3 to 6
Miss Forster
Our pupil committee play an integral role to the development of our school. Miss Forster will be working with them on a range of projects to improve our school.
Gymnastics Club

Miss Hymers
This club will give the children the opportunity to evolve into faster, stretchy little gymnasts who will grow in confidence and resilience.

The digital leaders work with Mr Thoburn to promote technology across the curriculum and make it accessible to all.

The children will have the opportunity to practise their basketball skills with our coach from Elite Sports

Lego Club

The children will have the opportunity to get creative with Lego.
Choir

The children practise singing songs and will have the opportunity to sing at different venues.
Mindfulness Club
Years 5 and 6
Miss Stewart
Mindfulness club will support children with mindfulness techniques and strategies to help us manage our everyday stresses. Each week, we will be completing different activities and crafts relating to mindfulness to help the children become more aware of their emotions and thoughts.
