Extra Curricular Clubs

At Westerhope, our aim is provide a range of extra-curricular activities across the year for a range of different year groups. This programme of activities is something we hope to develop. If any member of the school community would like to help us with this, please contact school admin admin@westerhope.newcastle.sch.uk.   

Film Club

Years 3 and 4

Mr Evans

Over the 6-week block of sessions the children will watch age-appropriate film extracts and discover the cinematography used to develop their own skills.

 

Brunch Club

Years 5 and 6

Mrs Dalkin 

The children will be creating lovely brunches from scratch, which will of course be sampled straight away.

 

Football Club

Years 5 and 6

Mr McDonald

Come and develop your football skills with Mr McDonald!

 

KS1 Football Club

Years 1 and 2

Elite Sport will be running a club with KS1 to develop their football skills.

 

Pupil Committee

Years 2 - 6

Miss Forster

Our pupil committee play an integral role in the development of our school. Miss Forster will be working with them on a range of projects to represent and improve our school.

 

Julia Donaldson's Craft Club

Year 1

If you love The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom or The Smartest Giant in Town then this is the club for you! Each week we will listen to a story and then complete a craft activity linked to the story such as a puppet with moving parts or an under the sea collage.

 

Digital Leaders

Years 5 and 6

Mr Thoburn 

The digital leaders work with Mr Thoburn to promote technology across the curriculum and make it accessible to all.

 

OPAL Club

It's time to get muddy and active! Join our outdoor play and learning club to get creative and play.

Recorder Club 'The Dazzling Descants'

Years 3 and 4

Mrs Thompson

 

A fun introduction to playing the descant recorder, learning how to read and interpret musical notation, and enjoying performing as a group. It has been wonderful to see the children's playing ability and confidence increasing week on week... look out for our future performances!
