  • Greig from 52 Lives School of Kindness and a WORLD FAMOUS AUTHOR shared an amazing World Book Day Kindness Challenge! It is all about saying thank you to those little things that make our lives better! Our Reception learners LOVED it! Our fingers are crossed for some winning entries (but we also know we are all winners when it comes to being kind!).

  • Year 4 Robotics Session

    Our year 4 children took part in a robotics session with Mr Bunce from RGS.

     

    They really enjoyed programming the Sphero. 

     

    The programming they took part in even linked to their class reader Stitch Head!

  • Year 1 Trip to Castle Keep

    Year 1 loved their trip to Castle Keep! It was inspired by their area of study, 'Life in a Castle...Then and Now'. We loved looking at the different features of a castle with its defences and enjoyed the knight workshops. 

  • A New School Prayer by the Pupil Committee

    The Pupil Committee each drafted their own school prayer and we edited them together to make a group prayer. They look forward to sharing it in whole school assembly on Friday!

  • Celebration Assembly

    Today we celebrated our musicians, We have some very talented children and today we had recorders, ocarinas, a cello, a flute and two guitars. We also awarded our first ever music merits! There are certainty going to be many more musical performances  in school and we are excited to see how many more children will achieve merits this year - Well done Westerhope!

     

    Our Friday show and tell was as varied as usual and for the first time ever one of our pupils brought in a ‘brailer’ and we learnt a little about how visually impaired people read brail. Our Friday assemblies really are the best!

     

  • Super Sphero session for year 3

    Today, year 3 took part in a computing session with Mr Bunce from RGS. Mr Bunce teaches robotics at RGS. The children had lots of fun programming a robot called a Sphero. 

     

    Our year 4 children will be taking part in the same session in a few weeks time too. 

  • Safer Internet Day Cyber Superhero Competition

    We launched a competition across our ONE trust schools on Safer Internet Day back in February. 

     

    To enter you had to design a cyber superhero who can save the online world. 

     

    We have sent 10 entries to be judged by Julie Stuart (ONE Trust CEO) and we will find out soon who has won.

  • World Book Day!

    We have enjoyed a book themed day today and year groups have enjoyed pairing up to share books, doing a character book hunt around school and we had lots of excellent objects to give us ‘a hint of a book’.

  • Year 3 Trip to The Oriental Museum

    Year 3 have had a fantastic day out at the exciting Oriental Museum in Durham. We have been archaeologists, exploring and examining artefacts (some dating over 3000 years old). 

    We have also been face to face with a real mummy, and have taken part in a heart weighing ceremony!

     

    What a day!

  • Friday celebration assembly

    Today Class 3 did their ‘show and tell’ assembly and it was all about Geography. Their knowledge was outstanding and they spoke with loud, clear voices. They were an example to us all! Well done Class 3, what shining stars you are!

     

    We also had a variety hobbies and awards shared today. World War 2 coins, a dancing champion, gymnastic super stars and even a new author from Year 2! Children we are so proud of your achievements, keep it up!
