  • A celebration of our talents!

    Thu 23 Feb 2023

We had the most fantastic assembly today. Children had the opportunity to show off their gymnastics, football skills and dance moves. We couldn’t believe some of the moves the children could do, we were amazed! Well done everyone, ‘Westerhope’s Got Talent’ is going to be amazing this year!

  • Forest School Camp Fire for Reception!

Fri 17 Feb 2023 Miss Ellis

To celebrate a happy half term full of fun Forest Fridays, we listened to the story Fiery Fox Learns about Fire Safety by Teresa Davis and we made our own set of camp fire safety rules to follow before toasting our tasty marshmallows on a camp fire. Mmmm... what a yummy treat!

  • Dance City visit

Thu 16 Feb 2023 Mrs Dalkin

Year 6 were extremely lucky yesterday as we had a visit from Michaela at Dance city. We all took part in a dance warm up and learnt some new moves! We also had time to get into groups and make up our own routine, which we then performed. Dance City delivers many classes for children, I know lots of children will be interested. πŸ•ΊπŸ»πŸ’ƒπŸΎ

  • Brilliant Basketball

Mon 13 Feb 2023 Mrs Dalkin

Our brilliant basketball team entered an Owl competition at Throckley Primary school last Friday. They worked so well as a team, I was incredibly proud of them all. We even made it to the quarter finals. 😊😊

  • Celebration Assembly

    Fri 10 Feb 2023

We had a brilliant class ‘show and tell’ assembly today from Class 6. They shared incredible amounts of knowledge about their area of study and we came away knowing a great deal about polar bears! They were brilliant!

We also celebrated cheer leaders, a goal keeper and a dancer and once again we were blown away with our talented children.

  • Safer Internet Day

    Wed 08 Feb 2023

Today is Safer Internet Day. The children have been finding out how to be safe online from Mr Thoburn in assembly, undertaking a national webinar and through classroom activities. This year, the theme is to talk about your life online which supports children to make safe choices, share their worries and tell trusted adults about using technology. Well done Westerhope!

  • Year 5 Comando Joe’s Mission

    Thu 02 Feb 2023

Year 5 have been really enjoying their Commando Joe’s mission this half term. They have been given the mission to walk the length of the Amazon river. Ed Stafford walked the length of the Amazon river and it took him nearly two and a half years.

In their first mission, they had to do circuits to check their bodies were ready for all that walking. On their second mission, they had to select essential items to take with them on their journey. In their last mission, they arrived at the Amazon river and they had to work as a team to get across with the river with all of their equipment. Of course, there were also obstacles in their way like crocodiles and water rapids.

They cannot wait until their next mission. Keep checking back for more updates.
