  • Celebration Assembly

    Fri 28 Apr 2023

We had an abundance of talent to share in assembly today! One of our children made Easter eggs at Blackfriars restaurant, we had a karate belt, a pantomime performer and a dancer 😁

One of our talented Year 5 children created a book review presentation and we enjoyed it so much, we want another one!

We also celebrated our Kindness Ambassadors who said their aim was to spread kindness and help if there was ever any unkind behaviour - our children really are wonderful!

  • Fire fighters visit Year 1!

Fri 21 Apr 2023 Mrs Phillip

The Year 1 children were so excited today when some of the fire fighters from West Denton Fire Station came to school. We learnt about the equipment they use and clothes they wear to keep them safe. We talked about why it is important to have a smoke alarm at home and what to do if there was ever a fire. We all had a turn with the hose and got to sit in the fire engine; it was great fun!

  • Year 5 Clay Bacteria

    Fri 21 Apr 2023

Today, year 5 had another visit from Dr Helen Hooper and her university students.

The children made clay models to show the different shapes of bacteria.

They made cocus, bacillum, spirillum, vibrium and many other types of bacteria.

This help them to learn the different shapes and names of bacteria as this is important when identifying infections and viruses.

  • Celebration Assembly

    Fri 21 Apr 2023

We have had a super start to this half term and already the children have shared with us experiences and achievements we have not had before.

This week one of the children shared with us the circus skills they have been learning which looked amazing! We also discovered we have a Sea Cadet in school and two new aspiring footballers.

Every Friday we encourage children to share their talents so please remind your children to let Mrs Russell know by Thursday each week so they can be celebrated with the whole school 🌟

  • OPAL Club!

Thu 20 Apr 2023 Miss Ellis

Our Year 3 friends shared lots of fun and creative ideas while playing in our wonderful outdoor areas. The girls worked together to build and design a water pipe system, figuring out what resources we had that would hold the weight of the pipes. Amazing!

  • Winners at the Primary Engineers Awards!

Tue 18 Apr 2023 Mr Bell

Today saw two teams of engineers from year 2 and year 4 pick up  awards at the Primary Engineers celebration event. To say we are proud would be a huge understatement. These children worked hard to design and create locomotives with the help of Gemma (our expert from ‘Stadler Rail’) and they showcased their efforts in  the best possible way. Not only did they have to demonstrate the effectiveness of their train through load testing, straight line testing and breaking ability, but also in a thorough interview with an external panel of engineers. This is by no means an easy thing to do. Year 4 picked up the runners up prize and the year 2 train won best theme. If you would like to see our designs, medals and certificates, then look no further than our trophy cabinet.

They will learn all about what she had to do to achieve her amazing achievement as well as developing their RESPECT skills.
