  • Celebration assembly

    Fri 26 Jan 2024

There was another opportunity for a class show and tell today and the children have clearly been very busy learning about gravity in science and abut North America in Geography. Well done class 11!

More talented children have shared their hobbies and skills over the last two weeks and they have included sewing, enterprise, and football.

This is one of the highlights of the week in school so please do encourage your children to keeping bringing in their achievements.

  • Eco Club's first award!

Fri 26 Jan 2024 Mr Evans

A massive congratulations to the Eco Club for gaining the Woodland Trust's Green Tree Bronze Award. They had to complete a variety of tasks to gain enough credits for the bronze award, such as: creating woodland art pictures with natural materials and designing our tree mascot. We are all very proud of the team. Well done to you all!

  • Online Safety Assembly

    Wed 24 Jan 2024

Our children took part in an online safety assembly today.

KS1 children listened to a story called Once upon a time … online.

KS2 children learned all about not sharing their personal information and about ratings on games.

Remember to visit the online safety section of our website to find out more about how parents/carers can support our children online when at home.

  • Year 2 programming and fitness

    Fri 19 Jan 2024

Year 2 have had a brilliant Friday afternoon.

In Computing they learned all about how algorithms (instructions) have to be in the correct order when programming computers and robots. They created their own algorithms and then used the BeeBots to test their algorithms.

In PE, they took part in pirate fitness. The children had to do star jumps and leg raises.

  • KS1 Online Safety Video

    Fri 19 Jan 2024

Three of our Year 2 children visited Throckley Primary School to take part in an online safety video.

Children from our ONE Trust schools took part too.

The children were recorded on the green screen and will become part of a video all about Safer Internet Day.

The video will be played across all of our schools during the week of Safer Internet Day on 6th February 2024.

We will post the video on our website too - so keep checking back for this.

  • Beating Blue Monday!

Tue 16 Jan 2024 Miss Forster

The pupil committee made a 'Blue Monday Mindfulness' board to brighten up January at Westerhope. The board encourages children in school to 'check in' with how they are feeling.

Each pupil committee member decorated a cloud which explained their favourite self care activity. The aim was to share ideas and encourage children in school to do the same. We also selected our favourite mindfulness activities from a happiness activity book and made a bank of them for children to take.

  • Book Exchange Competition Begins!

Thu 11 Jan 2024 Mr Evans

The Eco Club have launched this year's Book Exchange!

During January, we would love you to search through your cupboards and book shelves and dig out any pre-loved books, DVDs or CDs that you no longer want or have outgrown. These can be suitable for children or adults.

We would love it if you would send these items in with your child and hand them to Mr Evans any time before the end of January.. Then, at the start of February, we will give all the classes a chance to browse the selection of suitable items on offer and grab themselves a bargain! Most items will be just 10p! We will also offer a night after school where parents can have a browse as well.

The class that brings in the most items will win the first look at the Book Exchange and each on will get 1 free item!

Any money raised will go to the Eco Club, who want to purchase some plants for the school grounds and classrooms. Any left over items will be donated to charity.

So please feel free to use this time to have a good declutter and help us make our school even better!

    Many thanks,

    The Eco Club
