Decorating the Christmas Tree

Today was the day we decorated or Christmas tree in the school hall. All of the classes from Reception to Year 6 were there. Each class had handmade a beautiful decoration, some of which were designed and made during our Design and Technology day. Now, our tree looks 'Westerhope Wonderful!' and marks the start of our Christmas celebrations in school.

England Rocks Results!

The England Rocks competition is now closed. How did Westerhope do? One word… Brilliant! All the Key stage 2 classes did a fabulous job and as a school we came in the top 2% of the country! The children were allowed one hour a day between 7:30am and 7:30pm, then average scores were calculated. Class 13 were the 61st class out of a whopping 28,464 classes! Putting us in the top 0.5%, closely followed by Class 12 and Class 14. Well done everyone!

Key stage 2 children are taking part in a nationwide times table rockstars competition. The competition started at 7:30am yesterday and finishes at 7:30pm Thursday. At this moment in time we are doing so well. Class 12 are currently 55th place out of 25,263 classes! How amazing is that! Keep it up class 12. As a school we are 49th out of 4322. Keep going everyone!

World Kindness Day!

What a fabulous day filled to the brim with kindness! World Kindness Day is a very special day for us at Westerhope. It's a day we spread even more kindness within our school and community (if that's even possible!) while also learning about the impact being kind will have on our own physical and mental health.

Our expedition to Studio West was so successful! Taco should now be called Taco Friday! Delicious!

Class 13 visit to Studio West

Today Year 6 had a fabulous visit to Studio West food tech department. We all made delicious beef tacos to fit in with last half term’s North America area of study. We learnt how to chop using the ‘claw’ and ‘bridge’ techniques. We fried beef mince and vegetables to create a tasty filling.

Our football team made up of Year 5 and 6 children dazzled us with their skills in three matches. They were wearing their new shirts sponsored by Snazzy’s Dry Cleaning and demonstrated outstanding teamwork and sportsmanship.

Kindness Club

What a fabulous few weeks of Kindness Club! Each week we have been creating lots of kindness from making bookmarks and hiding them in our school library books as a surprise for the readers to creating special letters and pictures for those we care about. We also have become kindness experts learning about the science of kindness and how incredible it is for our mental and physical health!

If you missed out on Kindness Club, don't worry as Mrs Hay runs a lunchtime Wellbeing Club in our new wellbeing area every Wednesday lunchtime - open to everyone! Come along and create some kindness calm!

Celebration assembly

This week we were very proud of three of our girls who set up their own fund raising event selling bracelets and raised £310 for Tiny Lives. An incredible achievement and actions which embody our school values - Kindness and Making a Difference.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate a variety of achievements - kick boxing, swimming, art and gymnastics. Such a variety of talents on show once again. Well done everyone!
