  • Year 3 Design Technology - eating seasonally.

Thu 19 Oct 2023 Mrs Thompson

Year 3 made delicious seasonal vegetable tarts as part of our Design Technology 'eating seasonally' work.

There are definitely some budding chefs in the making!

We used puff pastry, shallots, closed cup and chestnut mushrooms, and butternut squash. An autumnal treat!

Many of the children were trying some of the ingredients for the first time, so it was amazing to see everyone tucking in and enjoying what they had created.

The children considered the dietary requirements of our whole Year 3 community very carefully so that everyone could enjoy the treat. Our recipe was vegan and we made a gluten-free version.

  • Digital Leaders

    Thu 19 Oct 2023

Our digital leaders have made a great start this year. They have already started learning about online safety so they can achieve their online safety badge.

We also learned about how desktop computers are setup.

  • The New Pupil Committee

Wed 18 Oct 2023 Miss Forster

We are the Pupil Committee and Kindness Ambassadors!

We welcomed our new pupil committee today. The children selected had to submit an application form. Well done to our new pupil committee members whose applications were amazing!

During our first meeting, we split into groups and shared our ideas for the year ahead. At the end of our time together, we all picked our favourite idea.

We are excited for future meetings, projects and events.

  • Celebration Assembly!

    Fri 13 Oct 2023

Class 7 were brilliant today during their class assembly. Mr Evans was even put on the spot and asked to race to complete a map challenge - he lost! Well done Class 7 😁

We had lots to show today including a superstar who raised £1000 for our school charity Heel and Toe by running in the Junior Great North Run! Amazing!

Today we had a boxer, a swimmer, a rugby player and a homework star.

What a talented bunch we are!

  • Bear Hunt Adventure for Class 4!

Sun 08 Oct 2023 Miss Ellis

Class 4 was the fastest class in school to get everyone to bring in a pair of wellies and spare clothes on their pegs! As a treat, we went on a fantastic adventure around our school grounds to look for Mr Grizzly and return him home safely.

  • Celebration Assembly!

    Fri 06 Oct 2023

We had our first ‘show and tell’ assembly for the year and it was super! Year 6 shared their pictures and stories from their Ford Castle residential and the children were enthusiastic and inspiring. Their captivated audience certainly all wanted to go!

    Next week is Class 7

    As always we had a huge variety of talents to celebrate;

    - a homework super star

    - a year 4 completed Lexia - AMAZING!

    - a gymnast

    - a dancer

    - a basketball player

    - an avid reader

    - a footballer

    - a swimmer

    Well done everyone!

  • Year 3 baking day!

Thu 05 Oct 2023 Mrs Thompson

Year 3 had the best Design Technology practical lesson... making and baking apple and blackberry crumbles. Delicious!

We had lots to consider - hygiene, and a dairy free and gluten free recipe. We had a lot of fun, especially the experience of rubbing the vegetable oil spread into the dry mixture with our hands. The whole school smelled delightful, and the crumble tasted absolutely amazing.

    Well done, Year 3!

  • Introducing... Westerhope's Eco Committee

Mon 02 Oct 2023 Mr Evans

A massive "Well done!" to those who made it through the application process to join our Eco Committee.

Our first meeting was to introduce ourselves and come up with some ideas for what we would like to achieve during the year.

All these brilliant ideas will certainly come in handy as we aim for the Platinum Green Tree Award and Eco-Schools Gold Award!

Here are some of our enthusiastic Eco Ambassadors, raring to go!
